Kodera Kenkichi lived 1887 to 1977. He was born in Gifu and graduated in 1911 from the prestigious Tokyo School of Fine Arts. He exhibited with the famous Bunten, and later the Teiten. As upi can see from the one we offer, his oil painting style is similar to Derain. He visited Europe in 1922 and 1927.
This painting is special; an early signed and data example of this famous artist's work, it is monumental size, 118 cm tall by 90 cm wide, and dated 1937, pre-war. Excellent condition.
